High-Level Experience at a Fraction of the Cost
The Fractional Executive business model has been a game-changer for small to medium-size companies. Through this model, the company benefits from engaging/hiring a part-time senior-level leader, while paying (as a 1099 sub-contractor) a fraction of what it would be paying a full-time executive. Depending on the company’s needs, my time can be contracted for 10, 15, or 20 hours a week, and the engagement could be for a few months to a year or more; on-site, remote, hybrid, or long-distance hybrid.
As a fractional executive, I become part of the leadership team and manage both internal and external resources including employees, vendors, subcontractors and service providers. Through WhatsPossible, Inc. I work with multiple (2 to 3) CEO's / clients simultaneously, making it more affordable for them, while providing their companies with specialized experience and insights that they currently do not have on their leadership team.
Example fractional roles include:

Example fractional roles include:
- Chief Operating Officer / Chief Growth Officer: For smaller companies that cannot afford a full-time COO but need help in operations , talent management, administration, compliance and financial management. This company can benefit from having a senior executive with extensive experience in running the day-to-day operations while also growing/scaling the business.
- Chief Information Officer / Chief Technology Officer: With the advances in technology and the speed at which these advances are impacting every industry and every part of the business, CEO’s who want to have a competitive edge need a highly technical C-level leader to drive productivity and growth; a person who will develop a forward-thinking technology strategy and be there to manage its execution.
- Chief Transformation Officer / Chief Information Officer: For medium-size companies that are mature and are now experiencing eroding profit margins or losses in productivity due to inefficiencies, manual business processes, and poor data management. This company may already have a COO who understands their business, and an IT manager who keeps the technology infrastructure going, but neither has the background or experience to manage the organization through an enterprise-level digital transformation. This transformation leadership gap is currently wreaking havoc on many small to medium-size companies.
Fractional Executive vs Consultant
A fractional executive is a part-time inside member of a company's leadership team, while a consultant is an outside advisor and implementor. The fractional leader provides executive-level expertise and helps develop strategy while managing the company's staff, vendors, and resources.
A consultant provides expertise in a specific area and is often retained on a project-by-project basis, working with people in the company toward specific goals without becoming part of the organization. For example, a consultant may be called on to help a company with a specific problem whereas a fractional CIO would report to the CEO and lead all technology related departments and functions, manage technical people, projects and vendors, and oversee all digital strategy and implementation.
Both services are provided, depending on the company's needs.
